Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth and the Life

As our church, our goal is to grow larger and smaller. We expect to grow larger simply because a church that reaches the lost should be growing. As any living organism grows, so our church, as a living organism, must also grow. One of the most often heard complaints about growing church is that, "the church is getting to be too large." Obviously, any Christian who is obedient to Jesus' Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) understands and wants the church to grow. While we believe that our church must grow larger, at the same time, we believe that our church must also grow smaller.

Discipleship groups are critical to our church as it grows larger. Discipleship groups allow our members and attenders to be bonded to a small group of Christians who share similarities with each other (age, married, single, divorced, college, etc.). It is in a discipleship group that we are able to keep intimacy and community, even as our church body as a whole grows larger. Discipleship groups at EBC exist to put God's Word into people. We hope that as people grow in God's Word, they also develop healthy, biblical relationships with one another.

There are several avenues for adults to participate in discipleship groups at Etowah Baptist. Please click any of the links below to learn more and to sign up:

Discovery Groups: Adult Bible Study Small Groups

Various times and locations

Our Discovery Groups consist of a small number of people (up to 12) that gather together on a regular basis to study God's Word, pray for each other and encourage one another in all aspects of godly living. Discovery Groups will allow people to dig deeper into God's Word and into intimacy with group-mates than our Sunday                                               School groups, mainly because they are longer in duration (about 2 hours) and they are kept smaller in                                                           participants (no more than 12). For more detailed information, including group listings, times and locations,                                                 please click the "Discovery Groups" link on the left.

Life Groups: Adult Bible Study Community

Sunday mornings from 9:45-10:45 a.m.

Our Life Groups are made up of a mixture of adults of varying ages and backgrounds. The purpose of Life Groups is to lead people to love God by learning and obeying His Word. Life Groups function on a rotating schedule: on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, the entire department meets for a Bible study led by our pastoral staff. The Bible study is taken from a verse by verse study of a book of the Bible; on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, we meet in Life Groups (no more than 10) to discuss and make application from the previous week's Bible study. Note sheets and take home studies are provided each week so that Life Group members can be prepared to bring personal thoughts to the group discussion. For more detailed information, including group listings, topics, schedules and online resources, please click the "Life Groups" link on the left.
