At Etowah Baptist Church we believe that small groups are crucial to the life of any growing Christian.
Jesus Christ was definitely a supporter of the idea of small groups. At the same time, Jesus was no
stranger to large crowds. He fed over 5,000 men at one time plus all the women and children.
He also ministered to the smaller crowds in that He sent out 72 to minister (Luke 10:1-24).
Though Jesus had a ministry to the crowd, just as we have a ministry to hundreds on Sunday morning
in our worship services, He invested Himself in the small groups. For example, He spent over 3

dedicated years pouring Himself into 12 disciples. Beyond that, He took extra time with 3 disciples
in particular, His inner-circle, Peter, James, and John. Specifically, He gave special attention
to the disciple "whom He loved," John.

"Total Church Life" is all about growing with Jesus Christ on every level. It's about growing with the
crowd in worship on Sunday mornings, growing one on one with Christ in personal devotion
seven days a week, and growing in the small group environment through Sunday School and discipleship
groups. Our prayer is that your will catch a vision for what small groups can mean for your personal
relationship with the Lord and for your part in the body of this church. You can make an important
connection beginning this Sunday!
